About

Cairo Aibangbee is a Black British author, award-winning playwright, poet, and compulsive reader. Known for her complex characters and inclusive magical worlds. Her debut novel, A Divine and Deadly Vow, sold to Tempest in the UK and Christy Ottaviano in the US in a six-figure pre-empt.

A shameless North Londoner, she considers anywhere beyond Zone 2 to be long-distance. Despite this, Cairo has somehow found herself living in Northamptonshire with the love of her life & their slobbery Great Dane puppy, Atlas. She can usually be found there drinking too much herbal tea and trying to convince herself that reading counts as writing.

Since self-publishing her first poetry collection in 2016, Cairo has performed all over the country, with highlights including Port Eliot Literary Festival and Latitude Festival.

Cairo is also the founder of Black Girls Brunch, a community interest organisation that aims to create a safe space for Black women and non-binary people to flourish.

While born and raised in England, Cairo is proudly of Jamaican and Nigerian heritageβ€”a fact that influences her imaginative worlds and poetic style.

Cairo is available for work on projects in the genres of Romance, Fantasy and Poetry, as well as a range of other projects including writing for stage, screen and radio. Don’t hesitate to reach out to her via her agent, Gyamfia Osei at Andrew Nurnberg Associates.
